Grace wins Sam around to offer her a job at Number Five when he tastes her homemade raspberry jam. So, to celebrate the release of my debut novel, Meet Me at Number Five, I’m giving one lucky person the chance to win a delicious Betty’s Tea & Scones selection box.

During the novel both Grace and Hennie get to go on first dates, but for their heroes they don’t go quite according to plan. So, to be in with a chance of winning I’d like you to comment in the ‘Leave a Reply’ box below with a few short lines on what was the best or worst first date you’ve been on and why. The closing date for the competition is midnight on Monday 26th June 2017 and the winner will be chosen at random and notified by reply of comment on the feed below.

I look forward to hearing your stories!

Good luck,

  1. Me not being interested in another bad relationship, was stalked for four years by hubby. I finally gave in and gave him my mobile number; no text all day, till finally one arrives late in the evening…my techno phobic hubby couldn’t text back then, so it took him all day to ask me to dinner! Which obviously I said yes!

  2. My worst first date was to help carry his bag on the golf course whilst he chatted to his friends – he thought he was showing me off! Needless to say, we didn’t make it to date number 2!

  3. Best first date was with my now hubbie, we met at Woodstock which was half way between where we lived at the time 200 miles apart. We walked round a furniture shop furnishing an imaginary house, walked the grounds of Blenheim Palace and then went into Oxford to look in bookshops. The date lasted from 10am till 2am the following morning when we got fed up of sitting in the car. I would have married him right then!
