About Me

Welcome to my writing world.

I’m a 37 year old self-confessed romance junkie and hero seeker. I grew up in the village of Bussage, near Stroud, in the Cotswolds, returning to my birth town of Cheltenham as a teenager.  I’m married to my very own hero, Matt, and have three sons, Hamish, Arch & Lol.  My first encounter of a romance author was chats over the garden wall between my Dad, Pa B, and Mrs Cooper from the neighbouring village of Bisley.  It came as quite a surprise in later life to find that Mrs Cooper was in fact Jilly Cooper!  My writing inspiration now comes from other Cotswolds authors including Jill Mansell and Katie Fforde.

I write contemporary romance with a light-hearted tone and am a member of the Romantic Novelists Association.  What interests me most is people, their interactions, emotions and relationships.  It’s probably why my career to date has been based in property; call me ‘naturally curious’.

When I’m not busy writing, helping Matt run his electrical empire, or being the three amigo’s taxi service I really enjoy running with my Vizsla x Weimaraner, Sparky. We’re both currently training for a half-marathon although Sparky’s motivation lies much more in chasing bunny rabbits.

I’m a graduate of the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers’ Scheme and must attribute this supportive and informative scheme as to how I won the Choc Lit Search for a Star competition 2016 with my debut novel due for Meet Me at Number Five. If you are an aspiring romantic novelist, I can’t advocate this scheme enough.

  1. My worst first date was the one with my husband! He was half an hour late – we’d almost ended before we’d begun! Nowadays it’s him always hanging around waiting for me!

  2. My worst date was being stranded in Mid Wales on my own and sitting at the train station all night to get back to Cardiff !! Disaster
My best date is with my current partner, at an Italian restaurant called Cucina by the South Bank in London. We spent New Years Eve there. Lovely memories. xx

  3. How exciting to find your blog! And Jilly Cooper – no way! I devoured all her titles during my late teens and early twenties (and was disappointed with the televised version; Rupert was soooooo much sexier in my head than the actor they chose – haha!).
I shall read your past posts with keen interest, as I have just joined RNA and hope very much not to make a fool of myself x

  4. Hi Viola, apologies, I am useless, haven’t visited my own blog for a while! Welcome to the RNA, it is a wonderful organisation and everyone is so friendly and of course you won’t make a fool of yourself! Yes, I often find that characters are hotter in my head than TV versions. Except for Richard Sharpe (self-confessed Sean Bean obsessive 🙂 ). Perhaps we will meet this year! Best wishes, Lisa x
